We actually ventured out of the house yesterday...but only to get Dalton some new milk. Somehow I'd bought him reduced fat milk--have you seen my kids? They don't need reduced fat anything. So I used it for my mac and cheese recipe and went to get him a replacement. It was not quite 80 degrees so I put them in pants!!! After our brief trip we came back home.
So...the mac and cheese? Not great. I'm all for trying Crock Pot mac and cheese again because of the convenience factor, but Jason is a fan of sharp cheddar cheese. Not the best melting cheese, you know. The recipe gave the option of Velveeta or the cheddar. I'll do Velveeta next time. And if that works out better I'll share the recipe. Interestingly, Jason very much prefers the mac and cheese I already make...the one with tofu in the sauce. It's his favorite. So, next time I try it'll be for just me and the boys for lunch or something. And for dinners we'll stick with the tofu kind that everyone gobbles up. Might as well...healthy healthy.
Now the pie? Well that turned out darn good...part of it was probably my special helper:
It was chocolate chip pie. And what's pie without milk?
Actually Dalton was never going to be allowed to eat the pie...it had nuts in it. We're holding off just a bit longer on those.
But check out D's new shirt:
That's from The Alabamaws. I love it! And Easton's Batman hat above is from them too. I was telling them how I wanted E to have a navy hat...he has a lot of navy clothes...it's why he has navy Crocs. And then that arrived...navy and Batman. However...it's the first time he wore it for me. He wore it when he first got it when my mom was here, but any time I offered it recently he'd tell me, "I don't need a hat, Moo-oom! It's not sunny!" in his Duh! voice.
And a couple videos from yesterday. Dalton loves going to sit on the potty. He often asks or tells me he needs to go and then does this:
And later when we were playing balls he was throwing a fit when I told him "No" over something...but check out the end of the video and what I accidentally caught. It makes me (and even E) totally laugh now:
He did not learn those moves from Coach Kristy.
During the dinner hour the Saints first pre-season game started...so we had to watch and eat. Easton asked to sit right next to his baby:
Bedtime went great last night. Usually D doesn't quiet down right away and plays for a bit...requiring one of us to go in eventually and give him back his pacifiers and loveys he tosses out. Then he goes to sleep. But last night that didn't have to happen. Yay!
This morning Easton requested more faces for breakfast. So he helped me make them on toast:
I kept trying to assemble one for Diddles on his tray but he'd eat it as I was making it:
His hands clasped in prayer:
After that our morning got annoying. I think from all this time spent inside. Easton was driving me crazy, which meant I likely needed to get out too. So we decided on the library, the boys still have coughs but my sanity depended on leaving this place. Easton didn't want to go, he said. But too bad. We were going. We got a few new books and movies and redeemed his summer reading program check-list for his prizes: a pass to the Butterfly Pavillion, a pass for free bowling, and he got to pick out a brand new book! He chose a Diego one but they had some good ones: Where the Wild Things Are, Goodnight Moon...
Then he started climbing on the library furniture...so we had to come back home anyway. Grrrr. But here he is reading to Dalton
D shouts, "Go! Go, go!" when ever he sees Diego. He calls Dora "Backpack". I seriously don't know when he sees those shows or how he knows them. Usually Easton watches them (if ever) during part of his quiet time...when D is napping in his room. He knows Blue of Blues Clues too...and can even talk like Blue. What the heck? None of those are even E's current favorites. Strange that D knows them like that.
So anyway...onto why that music is playing on my blog today. I totally bit it today. On the stairs...while holding Dalton. And I'm hurt. Plus did you see the video with Easton and the ball?
It was as we were about to leave for the 'brary. I somehow caught my toe and fell down the stairs. I was able to protect Dalton but after we landed on the tile at the bottom Dalton was soooooo mad at me. He ran away screaming...right into a wall!!! So he was fine from falling down the friggin' stairs but now has a bonk on his head from running into the wall. After Easton saw me and asked, "Why did you do that?" he said, "I know just the thing!" and ran to get me his Cuddles to put on it. It really did help.
But now I've totally got a big toe injury. As I was explaining it to Jason he was like, "Did you hyper flex it or hyper extend it?" And I was all, "Well, that's not how it works with toes...(there is plantar flexion--towards the sole of the foot or what ballerinas and gymnasts call "pointing", and then there is dorsiflexion--which would be towards the shin. Okay, anatomy lesson over)." Anyhoo...mine was the plantar flexion variety...as evidenced by the 3 day old nail polish that was rubbed off on the carpet on our way down. It's the opposite of "turf toe". Turf toe is the "towards the shin" kind of injury and I've discovered that what I have would be called "sand toe" because beach volleyball players are known for it when they land stupidly in the sand. I think I'll pretend that's how I did it. I feel better that way.
It totally hurts, I'm limping because I can't push off from the ball of my foot normally, and it's swollen. Plus it hurts in my ankle and shin from where those muscles connected to everything were tweaked as well.
So the song playing is the theme song for both me and E today. Ow!

Ha! That Eastie video was funny! And Dizzle is turning into such a big guy. That's neat.
The image of you guys falling down the stairs and then D running away and into a wall made me LAUGH! Then adding in Easton asking "Why did you do that?" like it was purposeful...oh man, I was really laughing! But I am sorry about your injury. OUCH.
I'm baaackk. I have ALOT of catching up to do here, I see.
Your poor toe, I can't believe you were able to save DAlton from harm only to have him bump into a wall, that is something my accident prone Zoe would do too!
And that video is really funny, at least he has the enthusiasm!
I hope your toe is feeling better and they fixed you all up. Was this from the top of the stairs all the way down?
And the end of the video with Easton is something you would see on bloopers or something. I hope he was ok after that.
I love Dalton's babbling and words. He says so much more than Micah. He is so cute. And thanks for the mini tour down the hallway :-)
Easton is such a great fall guy! You should take lessons;) Ouchie about the toe! I hope if feels better soon. D reminds me a lot of Gilliebean . . . lots of "words" but not making a whole lot of sense. lol He's such a cutie sitting on his potty!
Oh man, what a day.
I also have a toe injury today...the sad thing is I have no idea what I even did to injure it. Go figure. It definitely doesn't sound as painful as yours does though. Ouch! So glad D escaped unscathed...until the wall, that is.
That's a bummer about the mac n cheese, but yummy about the pie. Chocolate chip pie is my favorite now. Yummm!!! If I wasn't up to my eyeballs in Entenmann's, I'd be making one this weekend.
How is it Dalton is even adorable during a tantrum?
Lastly, I love the pic of Easton (I believe it was the 2nd one) when he was helping you with his breakfast face. The face he is making is so cute.
Oh, and diggin the Queen. You know we are BIG fans over here. :)
