Go Ahead...Make My Day

Seriously...someone made my day today...

We went to a birthday party tonight. I was sitting at a table with a few of the mom's of Easton's classmates when he walked over to say something to me. One of the moms (who I rarely talk to and has no idea what happened at the doctor last week) said, "Wow, he speaks really well!"

I jumped all over it asking, "Really? You think so???" And told her why I was so excited to hear her say that. I mean, she's got 4 kids (so she knows kids, right?). One is in Easton's class (so she knows 4 year olds, right?) and she thinks my kid speaks well??? Wooooo hooooooooooooooo!

Take that, Dr. S! :)

But onto the rest of our day. Gramoo came over first thing this morning to give us a hand. We asked her to come play with our boys while we had the grueling task of emptying out our basement so that the contractor can start on Monday!

So here are some "before" shots and footage. And sadly, this was taken after we'd already hauled quite a bit of stuff into the garage!

And after the emptying yet before the finishing:

Because the "storage area" gets to stay a storage area we didn't have to move all of it, so it looks much the same. Man, we've got a lot of stuff. What do you people without basements do? And this is coming from ME who is sentimental and hangs on to certain things, yet despises "clutter". Ack! I guess because I hate clutter in my house I hide it in the basement? Actually a lot of it is "festive" stuff. Easter tote, Valentines tote, 4th of July...

It didn't take us quite as long as we'd thought. Gramoo fed the boys some lunch and then I got D down for his nap and not too much later E went in for his quiet time. Our modem had to be moved from it's downstairs spot and the phone jack in our bedroom didn't work for internet so Jason had to do some DIYing to get it to function but I couldn't blog or anything because the internet was temporarily down.

After room time was done, Easton and I got ready for Brock's birthday party. We'd scored a present at Target's recent 75% off toy sale and we were ready to go with our formerly $40 gift in hand. Easton's entire class was invited, of course not everyone showed but they actually had a decent amount of kids we knew. Isaac being one of them:

Mostly Easton played by himself or with me:

Although he and Isaac did have fun seeing how fast they could make the foose ball guys spin:

After awhile in the play area, the party moved to room full of tables for pizza and cake. I sat with some of the mom's from Mrs. M's class that I don't know that well (which was nice!) and Easton sat with the kids. He ate most of a piece of pizza, did his Capri Sun proudly by himself, and didn't hardly touch his cake. Then he moved on to spending a LOT of time with Caleb, Issac's 2 year old brother. Funny, he has a kid about the same age here at home to play with all the time...maybe that's why he had so much fun with Caleb instead of the kids his own age?

Dalton and Daddy stayed home. They had tortellini and enjoyed a mellow afternoon. D was sure cute when we got home:

And that was our Saturday. J and I are going to attempt watching "Annie Hall" again. I fell asleep watching it last night. It was before 9 p.m. I rarely fall asleep during movies...that's J's job. But I'd had an early morning yesterday because I simply couldn't sleep. Anyway...gonna try again. Toodles!

That's too cool about the comment on Eastie's speech, I would be over the moon too!

Awesome! I know that feeling, I get it every time someone compliments KayTar's speech or intelligence or whatever. I'm like "Ha! Take that global delays! We showed you!" LOL.

Dalton is such a cutie, he's really coming in to his own these days, I think.

I wish we had a basement! Can't have those when you live on the gulf coast and in a flood zone. ;) We have 2 attics instead- one in the house and one in the garage.

It's kinda nice to see that you have a junk room too. Not that your basement is full of junk, but you know what I mean. I just know that the rest of your house is so tidy and decluttered. ANYWAYS, I would love to have a basement. LOVE it. I don't think I've ever been in a house in Arkansas with a basement, which is kinda crazy considering all the tornadoes.

Can't wait to see what the finished product looks like.

Oh, and that's super about Easton's speech compliment!
