It was this morning and it went fine.
First was the ultrasound and Wabie is looking great. Wabie hasn't been moving as much lately and I like to believe it's just running out of room in there so it was nice to see it's really still alive in there. Although Wabes was sleepy. Had one little hand tucked under it's chin and the other little hand over one eye part of the time. So absolutely precious. Wabie is measuring 5 days ahead overall. The machine predicted the current weight at 6 pounds 9 ounces which is funny because the tech had me guess beforehand and I said "I bet it's 6 and a half pounds". Go me! At just 35 weeks, 1 day (a week less than I am now) Dalton was estimated at 7 pounds, 1 ounce. So, not looking like Wabie will be quite as gigantic as it's big brother.
My placenta is starting to look old but not to worry too much...I'm 36 weeks, and so it's normal that some placentas start to show some age by now. As long as Wabie is still growing okay and my fluid is good, then they're not concerned. Heart rate was 142 today.
Next we moved on to my OB visit. My blood pressure was 102/68 which is a tad higher than it's been, but still nothing particularly concerning. However, with that slight increase and my swelling the doctor ordered all those preeclampsia labs again. I'll start the 24 hour urine collection this afternoon and we'll drop it off and get my blood work drawn tomorrow afternoon...so likely no results till Thursday. And yes, I'll keep y'all posted--don't I always?
I also had my group beta strep swab done today...never been positive for it in the past but they gotta do it. And much to my mom's dismay (I'm sure) the OB did not offer nor did I ask for her to check my cervix while she was "in there". Sorry, Moo.
After that she was done...and we went on our merry way. The doctor thinks my labs will probably come back fine but we'll know later this week. And that's really all there is to know for now. Oh wait! Except that the OB noticed and complimented my cutsie toe polish. And was impressed that I could still reach them to paint them myself. She thought I'd "had them done". :)

Yay! That's great news about you and Wabie! Oh, and I worked last night so I was asking one of the OB's (who's old and wise) about Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome (because I've never heard of it before you mentioned it) and he said that it's bogus! He explained his rationale to me and all the other nurses who were sitting around so if you want more info on how he feels I'll fill you in. Plus, I've NEVER heard any of the MD's talking about it when they are consenting their patients for a tubal. Not that it means it doesn't exist because they don't talk to their pt. about it, but you would think that if they truly saw it in practice a lot they would bring it up as a potential side effect. And another nurse was like, "Well, then what 'syndrome' do men get after a vascestomy?" I'm not exact sure on the procedure of a vascestomy but aren't you essentially "tying" their tubes, too? You probably don't even care about my opinion on this matter, but I thought I'd share since I did ask a MD about it last night. And there is a new procedure called assure (I'm not sure if that's how it's spelled) and I'm not sure how the procedure works, I just know that you don't get it during a c-section, it's some 6-week postpartum procedure they can do. WOW! I think that's the most I've ever said in a blog comment! Anyway, I'm glad you and Wabie are doing well.
Kelli
YAY for a good visit!
And I too am impressed you can reach your toes to paint them this far along. No way could I have been able to do that!
amy z.
Glad you had a good visit! Bet you will be glad to be done with urine collections after Wabie gets here. LOL.
Yay for good news! Curious about Kelli's comment...are you still considering the tubal? I'm sure you've done a ton of research. Did you actually find info on the stuff on a syndrome? I talked to you about my tubal, right? All I know is what I've experienced and a handful of other women I've talked to who have had one had similar complaints as me. But maybe it's just age? Could be. I agree that if the stuff I experience every month was 'typical' my OB would probably have gone over it beforehand, however his NP (during my annual physical) said it (the symptoms) happens 'frequently'. Definitely something to consider and know is 'possible' ahead of time. LOVE not having to worry about birth control though! There's a positive and negative to everything!
I am so happy to hear about you and Wabie. YAY!
xoxoxoxoxo
I thought you'd had your polish done by a professional as well. It's super cute in case I haven't mentioned that already.
So is there a reason you didn't want your cervix checked? Just not wanting to disturb anything or is there some other reason? I've also been wondering what week D was when you had your c-section? And if you had started dilating beforehand? Maybe all that's on your blog somehwere. Or maybe I'm just too nosey. lol
Regardless, glad the appointment went well and the mental picture I got of Wabie sleeping gave me the biggest warm fuzzies. Darn it if you start making me wanna be pregnant again!!! :o)
