My first full day with Carson here was yesterday...and you may notice I didn't blog. It was actually a piece of cake having him here, he was having an extra sleepy day, even as far as "normal" goes for his age. But as soon as Dalton and Easton went down for quiet time, Carson woke up. And I gave him a bottle and Easton begged to be able to play with him instead of finishing his quiet time so we did that instead of blogging.
First let's go back to Tuesday though, as that's how I like to do things 'round here. One of E's classmates had a birthday at school and she handed out treat sacks to all the kiddos in the class...so Easton brought home a small bag of goodies. I warned him to keep his special stuff up high where Dalton couldn't reach it but alas...someone found a sucker...
And someone else was not happy...
I told him I was sorry and that he could have something else instead but that he'd had to get over it if he had something else. So he had the something else and was fine like we'd discussed. Whew:
Tuesday night I'd read that the Old Spaghetti Factory was doing their 1969 prices and I was all over that. Jason wasn't. So I called my mom to invite her. She was down and I told her I'd double check with Jason and call her back. The boys and I got downtown to the restaurant a few minutes before they started serving dinner (at 5:00) and parked and put in our name for a table for four. We waited for Gramoo but then they sat us pretty quickly. After I knew where we were sitting I called my mom to tell her where to find us in the restaurant so she could just walk in. This is when I discovered I had completely forgotten to call my mom back earlier in the day and she was nowhere nearby. She had moved on.
Oops!!!
I could not believe I did that. It is sooooooooo unlike little organized me with my fantastic memory. Moron!!! But as the boys and I were already there we had a nice little dinner...well, D and I did. He ate a ton. Easton was a bit of a punk and didn't eat. But Dalton more than made up for it as did the $5.34 bill at the end. Not too shabby.
Wednesday morning Carson arrived just after 6:00 a.m. again. He was ready to go back to sleep and my whole house was still sleeping. So, I made him a little makeshift bed downstairs and he slept for awhile. Easton was itching for him to wake up so that we could put him in D's old Superman costume. But first was breakfast for everyone. Carson hung out in his bouncy seat while I fixed everyone's food. Easton and Dalton made sure he was never lonely or bored:
I have cute pictures and videos but because I haven't asked Carson's mom, I'm not going to show them just yet. I gave Carson a bottle while the boys ate. Carson grabbed my finger and Easton said, "He's holding your finger because he thinks you're a good mom." And I said, "But I'm not Carson's mom, right?" And he said, "Well I think you're a good mom for taking care of him." Sweetie poo.
After breakfast all 3 boys put on costumes and then Carson needed a nap again. So my boys and I still had plenty of time to play and carry on as usual. We did painting/coloring:
And with that craft tote out Dalton got a hold of some scissors for all of 5 seconds but it was all it took to cut a big hole in his fleece jammies:
My rascal:
Easton played some "Super E":
And then he wowed me with some new abilities. We have this dry erase board and he was excited to copy words I wrote. We started with the obvious:
Unlike me, he's not much of a perfectionist and thought one time was enough and begged to move on to other names:
(That's his little "y" up on the top line).
Then he said, "We can't write 'Daddy' because he's not here...let's do Carson."
I made him practice his own name again:
After that he wrote it all on his own in his coloring book without seeing my "example" anywhere:
Go buddy! And because he's not quite 4, later he can brag to people that "I learned to write my name at 3." Ha ha ha. Plus, notice how he's doing it "right" with the proper capitalization. Mrs. M better thank me later. ;)
My mom came to join us for dinner last night since I'd goofed up the night before. Easton was super bossy about how to play Batcave properly. Gramoo had to be Robin but Robin wasn't allowed to do much so she had him run away. E still didn't get it. Bossy britches. Yeah, he's like me there. :)
Today was school for E and AussieROO for D. We bought a new baby monitor but it sucks and I couldn't hear the kids when they woke up this morning till E was full-on shouting and had moved on to Daddy's name. Poor kid. But it also meant we were a tad bit late getting started and that E wasn't in his best mood. So we were already running late and still had to run to the Krispy Kreme drive-through for the birthday snack E wanted to bring today.
At Easton's school we're not allowed to bring anything that isn't pre-packaged by either a factory or a store or restaurant. Health department made that a rule this year. Part of me loves the idea when perhaps it's some sketchy family's turn for snack, part of me feels happy that the kids with severe allergies don't have to worry about possible cross-contamination when foods are brought in from home, and most of me is bummed that I can't bring festive snacks for days like today. Oh well. Easton was satisfied with the idea of doughnut holes and OJ to celebrate his birthday with his class.
Only Krispy Kreme--a friggin' doughnut store--was out of doughnut holes. Instead I had to buy 2 dozen glazed. $16 and 10 minutes late for school, we were finally on our way. We've never been late other than that one snow day. Luckily Easton was still able to do his commemorative "walk around the sun" where he holds a globe and walks around all the months laid out around the sun as the kids say a little, "As the earth revolved around the sun, Easton turned ONE..." rhyme with each trip he makes. It's pretty special and parents often stick around when it's their kid's turn. Dalton and I did too. E was so proud. They then sang "Happy birthday" to him followed by a "God's blessings to you" chorus and then he got to blow out a candle and Mrs. M asked him about his party and what kind of cake he was going to have. His pal Jacob chimed in with an, "I get to go!" all excitedly but Mrs. M shushed him rudely so he wouldn't hurt any uninvited kids' feelings. :(
After the trips around the sun, Dalton and I left for breakfast again. It's been a LONG time since he and I have done the breakfast/ROO combo. We had such a nice time. He's been great today:
Then it was off to AussieROO which was lovely as well. We did some quick birthday shopping for Easton...somehow his birthday has really snuck up on me this year. Then we were off to get Bubbs and headed to a car wash because it's both super fun for the boys and because our car desperately needing cleaning:
We got home and I let the boys eat a bunch of doughnuts for lunch. I don't think Jason loves that I did that but I love when they eat a bunch of fatty foods...especially right before E's gonna have a weigh-in on Monday and because it's birthday week.
Now the boys are in their rooms. We've got to get some more birthday prep done this afternoon like party favors and stuff. And I've got to get snacks for the party and also see if I can find something to make his cake a "Batman cake". We're doing cupcakes and I can't find Batman muffin liners or Batman sugary decorations to stick on top and I certainly can't see free-handing the bat sign on 24 cupcakes. Or even on 8 for the kids. Eek.
So that's what we'll be doing on this beautiful afternoon...seriously, it's supposed to be 60 degrees today and I'd love to go to the park but I'm afraid there won't be time.
I cannot believe my little guy will be 4 tomorrow. Four. A kid. My kid. *sniff*

I read about the Old Spaghetti Factory's prices the other day, but we don't have one anywhere near us. That is so awesome that you ate for so cheap!
Glad it was a super easy day with Baby Carson. I sometimes miss the days when Drew slept all the time. I hope you are able to share pics soon!
Have fun with all the party prep!
If you could find some Batman rings with the symbol on them you could stick them in cupcakes.
I am sooooo impressed (and a little jealous) that Easton can write his name!
As for the batman cupcakes, you could always cut out a batman wing shape out of parchment/wax paper as a template and then use black sprinkles or cocoa powder to dust over it. make sense?
Okay...got to get Carson's Mommy to sign a waiver or something, cause I want to see the cutie! I love that Easton wanted to dress him up too. Have fun with the party prep!
Great writing, E! I can't believe he'll be FOUR already. Craziness.
Glad the sitting is going well so far!
First off...I must see Baby Carson cause all that hair looks super cute from behind!
Way to go on the writing. E totally rocked both Carson and Dalton's names. Don't you just love to watch kids learn to write and then see the finished project? I love when Izzy just decides to write "backwards" as in right to left. Whatever.
...and I can't believe our baby's are turning 4. Where has the time gone? I think I will be okay for 4, but 5 may require some medication.
WTG Easton! I am so impressed by his writing skills!
Wow...4?! It really flew by didn't it?!
Happy Birthday Easton :)
Holy Smokes on the name writing!!! Way to go Eastie!!
Figures about the donuts, that would happen to us too!
Happy Birthday Mr. E!
Happy Birthday, Easton!!
Love,Kelli and Connor
