The boys came up with this all on their own the other night when heading upstairs for the bedtime routine. Cuties.
So I talked to Mrs. M this morning. When I mentioned what the doctor said about speech therapy she seemed genuinely surprised. She made a very taken aback face which I took much comfort in. She didn't make a thoughtful face. She didn't nod in agreement. She looked puzzled by what the doctor might have said that for and looked to me for an explanation. I asked if she would just pay closer attention to his speech this week and to let me know before I start the speech therapy ball rolling.
She tried to find me a handout she has on some of the trickier pronunciations for kids like "th" and when they should be able to do them by...she said some are as late as 1st grade and I felt better about that. Good ol' Mrs. M.
We love Dr. S BUT I think we're going to put more stock into what someone like Mrs. M thinks rather than our family practicioner who spends a LOT less time actually talking with E. Especially when he wasn't feeling so cooperative yesterday. And like I said, we love Dr. S but I also think we might switch to an actual pediatrician. We would've had the kids seen by a pedi earlier on but our old insurance cost $20 more per co-pay (a total of $50) each time we saw a "specialist" like a pediatrician. And you have to go a TON in the beginning. So we stuck with family practice for awhile and we really like Jill. I think Jason will continue to see her when he needs a doctor--which is never. She's been great but I was talking with Jacob's mom on our recent 4 hour playdate and she couldn't recommend their doctors highly enough. She had me so convinced that I called 'em the next day and made Dalton's 2 year well-child with them. But I was still toying around in my head with the idea of sticking with Jill. However, after yesterday I'm wondering if I didn't get some of the "signs" I was looking for to go ahead and switch. Mostly because of when she said, "Easton, can you smell things?" and now this speech therapy thing.
Her not mentioning his weight "loss" doesn't bug me all that much because it is something we will always deal with with Easton. She did point on his graph that he'd plateaued rather than growed. (Okay, I said 'growed' because it rhymed.) Anyway, it's not like I wanted her to go, "What??? He's lost half a pound!?!?!" or something. Like my friend Maura pointed out, the half pound could be as simple as a difference in scales or his clothing. She's totally right too. And you know what, my kids don't grow normally anyway. They really never have. Our doctor has known us since I was pregnant with Easton...she knows us. She cares about us and she knows not to expect normal growth from my boys. I hope I can say the same thing for our new doctor. It's kinda hard to think about leaving Jill but I just like the idea of more specialized care for my very specialized children. It's not like my kids are completely "normal" or "typical". So, I think it's time for a switch, just hope we've chosen a good person to switch to.
Okay, that is all for today. I must go make myself a second serving of my delicious strawberry spinach salad. Yum!

Glad the teacher doesn't see a speech problem! I would have been really surprised. Not that I hear him talk all the time, but from what I've heard it seems totally appropriate speech!
Good luck with the pediatrician! I hope you like the new doc as much as we like our ped!
What a cute game!!
As far as the speech concern, sounds like E is just fine. If it is just pronunciation issues, that is normal at this age, I would not worry. Once he is in school around other kids, he will pick up correct pronunciation.
Your boys are so adorable!
Very cute little froggies you've got there!
I'm glad Mrs. M helped reassure you. I'm really surprised that E's doctor is concerned. Hope you guys like the new pedi!
