Does This Haircut Make Me Look Fat?

Photobucket
I told the stylist I was thinking of a cut sort of at my shoulders but otherwise I wasn't picky and she could be creative. It's a little shorter than I had in mind and I feel like hair that hits me at that length tends to make my face look wider.

My mom and Lauren say they like it and it makes me look younger.

Here's a more realistic picture:

The picture makes it look cuter than I think it looks in person. Plus it's loaded down with product right now and I'm not such a fan of crunchy hair. Oh well. It grows back. And pretty fast when you take prenatals. :)

So yeah, my mom and Lauren (who's back, yay!!!) watched the boys this morning. Jason and I first went to Easton's parent-teacher conference. We got great reports and we're just so proud of him. Mrs. M really seems to enjoy him and appreciates his quirks. She said he's fun to try to figure out. Even though some recent drop-offs haven't been going the best she assured us that he snaps out of it quickly and enjoys school while he's there. It sounds like he still excels in "math" and is working above the majority of his classmates there and in a few other areas as well. She says he's very bright and even though he's not one of the oldest kids in the class he's rockin' this preschool thing. Okay, she didn't say "rockin' ". But I made sure I peeked in her "grade" book (when she had it open) to compare him to his classmates and there's quite a few things he's mastered that the majority of the class hasn't. So, yeah, I'm bragging. But I'm allowed to on my blog.

Apparently one thing he's not doing great at is using scissors correctly. Mrs. M said she noticed he holds his hand upside down and thought he was having trouble but said that she was actually quite impressed with how well he was able to cut accurately even though he was doing it "wrong". I didn't know if that meant she needed him to fix or if it's something he'll just be allowed to do. If it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Well, truly I know that they're working on all the fine motor skills and practicing certain things for other skills later in life, writing, etc. but I can't figure out how which way he holds his hand while cutting matters if he can do it so accurately.

Other than the scissor thing I asked her what I should be doing with him at home. Bascially she said nothing. Just to read to him. That these kids are only 3 and 4 and just need to have fun not worrying about structured stuff and that since Easton was excelling there was nothing we needed to do, unless he was showing interest and it was still fun for him. I told her I didn't even know what he knew sometimes anymore! That he blows me away with things I never taught him.

We were very pleased with his conference and we're very proud of that boy. I don't know if Mrs. M makes all parents feel that way but when she talks about Easton she just sounds so genuine and, I want to say impressed...like, when she says, "And he can even do _____" it's almost in a "That's really impressive for a kid this age" tone. So it makes me feel extra proud. Even if she said, "I've found he struggles with _____" I'd still be proud of him, though. Still...

Anyway, Jason went off to work and since I had my mom and Lauren up watching the boys for the 15 minute conference I thought I'd ask if I could tack a hair cut onto my time away too. And obviously that worked out!

I came home and found that I'd forgotten to change Dalton's overnight diaper this morning--sorry Mom! And that I just expected Easton to know not to open all the Ressurection Eggs. We were planning to do them sort of like an advent...12 eggs...1 a day till Easter. So today we were on our second one, only I got home to find out they'd gone through all of 'em. I was pretty bummed that it had happened, only because I thought Easton knew better. We'd talked about it. I even tried to say, "I bet Dalton started it" but who knows. I never explained it to my mom or anything so it's my own fault. Oh well.

When I got home they left and Dalton asked to watch Gabba Gabba and then put on E's Croc shoes and asked to go outside so they both did that for a bit:

Then they came in for lunch (I really need to go grocery shopping!) and Q.T./naps. I'm hoping I can get J to take me and my new 'do out for dinner tonight...well, that and I have no food to cook anyway. Maybe I'll try to go tomorrow. Cooking and groceries is just sooooo not appealing when I'm constantly in a state of nausea. Ick.

I love the new haircut! I agree with your mom and sister, I think you look younger (not that you ever looked old!).

That's so great that Easton is doing so well in school! I would LOVE to have a parent/teacher conference like that.

And your haircut is cute! Maybe a little shorter than when you guys visited AR?

I think that your new 'do is super cute!

I'm glad Eastie is rockin it out in preschool, even if he acts like he doesn't care for it much.
