I Knew This Day Would Come

No, not the day I feel Wabie move. Apparently I'll have to wait longer for that.

Today was the first time this pregnancy I got a "When are you due?" question. Dalton and I were at Kohl's and the lady at the register pointed at my belly and said, "And when is this baby due?" and I'm sure I cringed as I sucked in my gut and said, "Oh, not till September." She couldn't hide her shock as she gasped, "September!?!?" before trying to politely pull it together where she said, "Oh my. You've got a long ways to go."

See.

That is what I was trying to avoid with putting off the maternity clothes. Although my top today is just a maternity t-shirt...doesn't even add anything that's not already there. :(

It got even worse when she said, "Is it a girl?" and I said, "We don't know" and she said, "Hopefully it is." What the frick? What is so wrong with boys??? She didn't even know I had two of 'em already. I swear to you folks, I will not feel incomplete if I don't "get" a girl. I'm totally excited by the idea of either gender at the end of this whole thing. I know she wasn't trying to be mean, of course, but implying that it would be "too bad" if I didn't have a daughter was sort of rude in my opinion. To me it's just as sad as if I was holding that third boy in my arms and people are all, "Oh, too bad that one's not a girl." :( Why??? Boys are great! I should know. 3 boys would be even more fun than 2. But a girl would be great if that's what God has planned for us. Whatev.

Anyway....

Yesterday after naps and quiet time we went out shopping. I had to make some returns on some of the cute stuff I bought for Easton. Oh well. I like both adjustable waists or skinny enough elastic waists. And those are the ones that are hard to find...the skinny enough elastics. Some stores are a complete joke in that respect but Carters and Kohl's are usually passable for Mr. E's bootie. Just in case you were wondering.

However, the boys--especially Easton--were completely crazy while we were out. I think all these months spent staying at home a lot more have them untrained in the "how to behave" realm. So frustrating. Plus Easton is just being a bit of a punk overall lately. He's in a phase. Good thing they never last too long.

Jason had plans with some co-workers to go to a crawfish boil for dinner last night. Gag. So the little guys and I were on our own for dinner after our shopping. I'd told them we were just going to pick something up and bring it home to eat but Easton really wanted to eat at the restaurant and against my better judgement I agreed. However it went perfectly. Whew!!! So did bedtime.

Except for Dalton and his poor bum. Antibiotics are not bacteria specific and so they're in there killing off all the good intestinal flora too. I know this happens which is why Dalton's also been on the PRObiotics and extra yogurt the whole time but still...things in the ol' diaper area haven't been looking too good for the lad and he's miserable but it's his butt now and not his "penus". He woke up crying several times in the night. One time he was just standing in there screaming so I sent J for Motrin for him and I got him in a dry diaper and slathered more zinc on his bum. He slept the rest of the night after that. I'm a little concerned it might be yeast but if it's not I don't want to treat it like it is, soooooo a call to the doc may be in order. We'll see.

Anyway, today has been a fine day and Dalton hasn't cried about his butt at all although it's not looking any better. Easton had school this morning and while he wasn't as happy about it as he was on Tuesday he still did great at actual drop-off. All smiles again. Hooray! And he drew a picture at school today:

I think it's awesome! It's him as Dash on the right...and then Mr. Incredible on the left. See the little masks? And the "i" circled on the front of Mr. Incredible's shirt? And Mr. Incredible's (or "Bob's" as Easton refers to him) massive hands? I love it!

While E was at school Dalton and I went to breakfast somewhere different. This time it was to Le Peep. I guess Wabie was wanting an omelette. :) Dalton and I had a perfectly lovely time coloring and chatting. I ordered him an English muffin thinking that would be the best bet but instead he ate nearly all of my potatoes, calling them French fries. Next time I'll order potatoes and he'll eat all my English muffin. That's just how these kids are.

Roo was great and then we went to Kohl's where the dreaded conversation with the saleswoman occured and don't worry, I won't get into it again. After that we headed over to get E.

We came home and the boys went to play in the backyard for a few. They each brought me flowers:

I didn't get a picture of E doing it because this is the first time D has done that. And he did it on his own. Bubba wasn't even out there with him yet. Much like yesterday, however, the boys weren't listening to some of the backyard rules and had to come inside after just a few minutes. We had lunch after a bit and now quiet time and naps. Easton has been doing quiet time in the basement lately. Only there's really not much down there yet and he gets totally bored. He just came running up here (which he's not supposed to do, really) and shouted, "There's no time! There's a spider on the loose in Daddy's office!" Only, the office is locked so I don't know what he's talking about but he did get me to come down there for a sec with him. Goob.

After the boys are done I think we might go to Target. Each boy got a 5 spot in the mail from The Alabamaws yesterday with some cute Easter cards and such. Easton is looking to spend his, we'll see what he comes up with for $5.

That's the latest from here. Till next time...

People are so wierd and oppinionated when it comes to kids. When I was pregnant with Elsie we got a few responses implying that we already had our boy and girl, so why in the world would we want a third child. Then now when people find out we have 2 girls and 1 boy, they are like are you going to try for another boy? Like it is anyone's business!!! And because I get irritated with them asking, I love to tell them "No, we can't have anymore kids, I had to have a rought pregnancy" just to see the pitiful look on their face. Mean I know.

I am surprised sometimes at what people have the nerve to say to others.

I hope Diddles "penus" and bum feel better soon and you can again sleep thru the night.

Sorry the Kohls lady got you all riled up. People really should think before they speak...it'd make life much happier.

Hate hearing about D's issues. I hope all that clears up VERY soon. Sounds miserable. :(

He's still a total cutie with that flower though. I love that picture.

I've always wanted to ask you...what kind of stuff does Easton do during his quiet time?

Weird. People are weird. Don't listen to strangers.
You're beautiful and you're growing a baby inside your belly.
Don't listen to strangers.

I hope Diddles gets better soon. So sad to hear about all of that.

Love y'all...
