So I had a little surprise for me today...when I came down at 6:00 to wait for Carson I had a text message saying that he'd had a rough night and Shannon wouldn't be bringing him until 8:00. Works for me...I headed back up to bed for just a few minutes till the boys woke up.
I was soooooooooo exhausted last night. The boys and I went exploring yesterday afternoon and it just took it out of me (sadly!). But we had fun...
Easton cracked me up by turning around to say, "Just a little bit further, troops!" Where'd he hear that one???
You should've seen my pregnant self carrying Dalton across those stepping stones. Eek!
Easton packed a snack for us and once he found the "perfect spot" we sat to enjoy our granola bars:
Sticks...
...and stones (Dalton just threw one into the water):
Easton started driving me crazy with not being the best listener so I told him it was time to go...then he fell in the mud:
In his brand new tennis shoes:
Oops:
Oh well. The walk home was, of course, much further than the walk there. I had to carry Dalton. And it was uphill. At one point Easton asked if we could just sit and take a break. So we did. But they were still little troopers. And Easton found a leaf that he said reminded him of God and he wanted to bring it home to put in his room:
Except that the second we walked in the door he carefully set his leaf down so he could strip off his muddy clothes and you-know-who destroyed it. :(
We came in to have a cookie. Easton asked for more milk, drank it all, then asked for even more!!!
This morning once Carson got here we had breakfast. Easton was later throwing his stuffed Batman around and at one point it landed on Carson in his bouncy seat. Carson didn't care and I told Easton simply not to throw it anymore. But he took it a step further:
He even set the timer for 2 minutes.
During Carson's first nap, my guys and I headed down to the basement and set up a Little People village:
We've got the airplane:
The farm:
The market:
And the house:
It was pretty fun. I came up with some fun story lines and then the boys sort of took over. I always love to see them playing together:
However, it wasn't long before Easton ran to get Batman who is apparently more of a trouble maker than a hero today. Dalton was setting some Little People atop a building, working hard. Seeing Easton's brain working I warned, "Easton, Dalton is working hard on those, please don't knock them over." What did he do? Knocked them over immediately.
Time out for him.
Except on his way he proceeded to knock over our village in his anger. Mama wasn't happy. And this time out doesn't seem to be having the desired effect:
Punk.
We continued to play for his 4 minute time-out:
He was better when he came back to us.
I ran to check on Carson at one point and a certain 2 year old got a hold of my camera, apparently:
Lunchtime!
I got my boys settled, then Carson down for his second nap. Not counting on it lasting more than his typical 35 minutes but we'll see. Either way, it's good practice for when we've got 3 kids here full time, right? :)

How is Diddles?
What a neat outing. I'd have love to seen you carrying D across the stepping stones!
Love all the exploring and the pictures were great.
Too funny how E put batman in timeout with timer and a soft cushion to sit on.
What a fun morning y'all had! and the mud pics crack me up...totally something Isaiah would do!
Glad it was a good day and that Carson is such a cutie!
I'm a little late with this one.
Hope Carson took a longer nap for you yesterday. Adam had trouble waking up after that first sleep cycle. Thankfully, Drew is a different story (knock on wood!).
Love the exploring! That's my kind of fun...mud included. As long as Matt is the one to clean the shoes. ;)
