Ack! Wish Us Luck...

...we are trying to wean Dalton from the pacifier tonight. Kind of a coincidence but here's the scoop. I had wanted to get him weaned from the breast and sleeping consistently through the night before we took away the paci.

But yesterday we left one at my mom's. Dalton nearly always has two when he's sleeping: one to hold and one to suck. Well, as I said, we left one behind at my mom's. So I opened up a new one we had in his drawer...but it's too new. It must not taste right and the silicone must not be supple enough. He doesn't like it. So it was his one to hold last night.

Well today during our outing I somehow lost his other one that clips on.

I'm taking it as a sign that it's time to be all done...leaving behind two pacis in two days? C'mon!

So yeah, he's in there with the new one to hold if he wants...but he won't suck on it. He's talking up a storm right now in his crib but not upset yet.

When we weaned Easton from it it was cold turkey like this too...he'd been chewing into them and once that would happen they'd become choking hazards and when he chewed through the last one he was done. He did fine.

I really really really hope D will too but I'm so nervous. He's been sleeping poorly a lot lately anyway. I was planning on weaning him from nursing by his 19 month birthday in 10 days or so. :( This could be rough. I might need to go to bed now. Anyone want to mail me a latte? :)

Oh girl, I feel for ya. It is always hard to make steps like this because you know another sleepless night is right ahead and do you even want to bother but it has to be done. I hope that D surprises you and you actually get some sleep tonight. I can't wait to hear how it went.
