So, I normally prefer to go a bit chronologically with my blog material but I know so many of you are following the Easton Preschool Saga that I thought I shouldn't make you wait.
It went better. For sure.
This morning was rough. Actually since bedtime last night he was whining to us about how he didn't want to go. This morning too. But I just said, "I know you don't want to go. But it's kind of your job. So, I'm going to keep taking you even if you're crying but it would be better and go faster if you have fun till I come get you." That was kind of how it kept going.
When we got to his classroom we hung up his backpack and jacket and he wouldn't move his feet. So I went over by the door and he glued himself to my leg (the roughest drop off yet!). Mrs. M swooped in to pry him off me and held him on her hip and whisked him away into the classroom. I stayed hidden in the hall to chat with "K" ("I"s mom) and it wasn't but a couple of minutes before I realized, "hey, I don't hear him crying." All the other parents seem to know Easton the Cryer and so when Bella's mom dropped her off I kind of asked her with my facial expression and she said, "He's just sitting there doing a puzzle and not crying!" Wooo hooooooooooo! "K" and I chatted a few minutes longer and once they closed the door to the classroom I peeked in the window one last time, no tears. He was sitting in a chair watching the other kids crowd around the guinea pig they had out. But no tears!
Dalton and I left in great spirits!!!
We headed to Atlanta Bread so I could get some breakfast. It's been more challenging to get two boys up, juiced, TV showed, milked, fed, dressed, pottied, and out of the house in 40 minutes than I thought. So today I ended up skipping the eating part myself planning to grab some food later. Which we did:
Then we headed to our special class together that'll take us through January. We're taking something called "AussieROO". It's at the same place I did Kindermusik with Easton when he was little. Ember (and Ellis and Neo) told us about it (and Kindermusik and My Gym) and they have yet to steer us wrong. It's a really cool class out of Austrailia (could you guess?) and it's way cool. It's similar to the My Gym we did with Easton but because it's closer, incoporates more music, and specifically highlights a kid's neuro-physiological development we signed up for this. Not many (if any) places do it in the US except for where we go but they should. Here's a link if you care.
Dalton had a blast. I love being able to have a special activity to do during our one on one time, not just making him hang around while I clean or ran errands or something. And he loved the class. There are 5-6 other kids right around his age and it's just way cute. Dalton is very verbal compared to all the others. At least that's what the teacher said to us before anyone else showed up. ;)
After that we still did SOME errands, we got gas and went to Target where I bought some more Christmas presents. Can you believe these weren't even the first I've bought for this year? It is nice not to have Easton there so Santa can get some shopping out of the way. Although it's early enough he probably wouldn't remember (yeah, right). However, I bought him what he's currently most wanting and when we visited it at Target the other day he said, "Santa's going to bring me that on Saturday." It was on a slight sale, that's why I felt like I had to get it now. I bought a couple other gifts too...just to make the most of my Easton-less time.
In fact, we were nearly late to pick up Easton. I think we arrived right at 11:00 but there was only 4 kids left. But still no crying. Mrs. M gave me another thumbs up and said he did great the entire time. Go, Eastie, go!!!! And I said, "Except for that part at the beginning?" and it must've been so short that she forgot. I'm so happy. Poor Easton still thinks that's good enough to get a prize and a sticker for his chart, but it's not. And I feel awful having to tell him that. But to let him know I was still so proud I let him choose an activity so he chose "the gymnastics park" (the playground by the rec center where we go for gymnastics).
At that point Jason called to see how it went and I filled him in. Easton had lots more to say about school today...he did a puzzle with a bear and a dog on it, he still didn't eat snack ("because I missed my daddy") but the other kids had muffins, he went potty ("they let me go all by myself"), that (Mrs.) M --he just calls her by her last name hee hee--wouldn't let him in the sandbox because it was too cold so instead he played freeze tag with "I", that M held him and he was "so happy", that he heard a Bible story about one boy and some animals but I couldn't get if it was maybe Adam naming all the animals or maybe Noah and all the animals on the ark. Oh well. I liked hearing more about his day. So anyway, Jason called and I looked up to see Easton was halfway across the monkey bars all by himself. I had to whip out the video camera and so you hear me talking to J at first:
We played some more and another family showed up. Easton and the oldest boy played together a bit:
The mom and I got to chatting a little bit and we discovered that James (the kid above) and Easton are in the same gymnastics class. So that was fun. Later when Dalton was found eating someone else's crackers off the ground she whipped out some still in a package for the boys. Easton said, "They're so nice to share their crackers with us". Dalton agreed:
Later we had to go and James came to say, "Bye!" to Easton. E said, "Bye, James! Have a nice day!" which I thought was totally cute and totally polite. I'm glad we'll see them again tomorrow at gymnastics.
We came home and I put D straight to bed while Easton had some cheese and crackers for lunch:
What a much better morning, eh?
But real quick, back to yesterday...Easton bit the inside of his lip real bad where he's got a big bleeding cut inside. So a popsicle was most definitely in order:
And Dalton got to have his very own popsicle for the first time too:
Would you believe that just before bedtime Dalton tripped and smacked his mouth on the floor cutting the inside of his lip too? Sheesh. I think my boys injure their mouths more than any other part of themselves. What the heck?
So anyhoo, that's the update for today. Thanks once again for all the prayers coming our way. They're helping!

Can I just tell you how in love I am with D? He gets cuter and cuter everytime I look at him. He is totally turning into a toddler boy :(
That was a great day indeed! Less and less crying. And it sounds like you are handling it just right and not giving in though it must be so hard.
Easton says some of the cutest things. Like at the park and sharing crackers. And WOW on the monkey bars.
Yay Eastie!! How cool that he met a gym classmate at the park. And a boy classmate at that!
I'm so proud of him!
