Rainy Friday

Well, I always love a rainy, overcast day because it seems to keep my boys in bed just a little longer. Always nice. In fact, Dalton pulled one of his rare "sleep completely through the night" nights last night going from 7:45 pm - 7:30 am. And since I haven't really mentioned it, I am still nursing him. Usually just on one side when he wakes in the wee hours of the morn and then when he wakes for the day. But that's it.

The rain kept me feeling a little lazy this morning. Well, also because our hot water heater is broken and so I couldn't shower...that's throwing me off too. But we made biscuits for breakfast and the boys just lazed around and watched TV and played toys until it was time to get ready for gymnastics.

Easton did great again...here's a grainy picture for you:

The challenge with E's class is keeping Dalton quietly entertained while Easton is in class. We brought stuff to do today but as he is only 18 months, nothing holds his attention for very long. He wanted to play with the camera and kept shouting, "Cheese!"...so we had to take a few pics:

See how lazy I'm being today? I'm in my glasses! I like giving my eyes a break from contacts but usually I like to wear my sunglasses so I can't have two pairs going on. Sure don't need 'em today!

After gymnastics we hung out for a bit chatting with our new friends (from the park yesterday). Easton is right between James and his brother Matthew age-wise. He always used to prefer older kids but I think he likes Matthew (the almost 3 year old) a little bit more. James is sooooooo sweet. As we were leaving he said, "Easton! I have something for you!" and gave E an Elmo figurine (that was apparently Matthew's). However, we gave that back and Rachel (the mom) found something else for them to give Easton...a Golden Grahams matchbox car. How nice! I don't go giving gifts to our new friends, typically, but E sure wasn't complaining. I like these new people. They're new in town from San Diego...only been here about a month. They lived near my mom about 5 years ago before they moved to CA. So, I guess they're in "try to make new friends" mode. She has an 8 year old daughter (in school) and then the 3 boys. She is a pediatric nurse practicioner turned stay-at-home-mom. But that's enough on them.

Me and my guys came home and made mac and cheese for lunch before I put Dalton down for his nap and Easton and I made cookies:

Now Easton is having quiet time and I'm catching up on my 'puter time.

Jason is having to leave work early today because of the hot water heater. 3 days ago at bathtime we had no hot water. We learned the pilot light was out. So the boys had to skip but J re-lit it so we could shower the next morning. The next night Jason was doing the dinner dishes and noticed no hot water again. Couldn't get the pilot light lit so I boiled some water and poured it into the bathroom sink with some cold water and we sponge bathed the boys. Yesterday when I was down hiding the Christmas presents I checked again...light was out. Grrr. Jason was able to get it to light so the boys could take a bath...but it went out again before we went to bed and so he and I couldn't shower today.

J did some researching online and apparently this model of hot water heater that we have is a real lemon. :( So he'll be leaving work early to talk to the store we bought it from and seeing if they can exchange it or something, but we doubt we have the receipt. Or he'll have to try fixing a part on it to see if that does the trick. No fun being without hot water, you know. How did they make it in the olden days? :)

Kidding...but I am thankful for the modern conveniences we enjoy.

Anyway, hope everyone has a nice weekend and enjoy some hot showers and baths for us!

Oh, and before I forget...I have a sweet E story from yesterday. I was letting him climb the tree yesterday afternoon when our across the street neighbors came home. Ben (their 5 year old) said, "Hi Easton!" but couldn't see him in the tree. Ben goes to Easton's school (different class) but we'd seen them that morning on our way in. Well, with E up in the tree I asked him to come down and say "Hi" to Ben...so he did...he came down and volunteered, "Hi Ben! Did you have a good day at school?" I looked at Lisa (the mom) and said, "Awwwww, I didn't even tell him to say that" and she went "Awwww". How polite!

I love those sweet manners and I especially find it cute when they talk like little adults. They are growing up so fast!

I couldn't stand rain all the time, but I certainly enjoy the ocassional rainy day. Just feels so cozy at home on those days.

Your new friends sound really nice!
